Bed sheets, also known as duvet sheets, are textiles used in bedding. They are mostly made of pure cotton or blended yarns and are characterized by their wide width, breathability, and comfort. Based on raw materials, they can be divided into pure cotton and blended fabrics. Pure cotton is absorbent and soft, while blended fabrics are crisp and durable. Based on size, they are divided into Chinese and Western styles. Chinese bed sheets are 210-228 cm long and thicker, while Western bed sheets are about 108 inches long, mostly using plain or twill weaves, thinner fabrics, and often featuring scattered floral patterns. Colors include all-white, solid colors, prints, and jacquard, with some products undergoing mercerizing to enhance luster and color saturation.
The bedding industry is a core branch of the home textiles industry. The Chinese market size exceeded 100 billion yuan in 2004 and increased to approximately 250 billion yuan in 2006. By 2007, 15 industrial clusters specializing in bedding had formed nationwide. The industry faces challenges such as design homogenization and market demand reliance on weddings and housewarmings. Future development requires expansion into functional and men's-specific niche markets. With consumption upgrading and the growth of the marriage and childbearing population, the home textile market is expected to see an additional scale of 200-300 billion yuan.
